The government of Canada has now introduced the Tobacco Products Regulations (Plain and Standardized Appearance) which is to come into effect later this year.
These regulations are to be implemented in two phases:
Manufacturers/distributors have until November 9, 2019 to stop manufacturing, selling and distributing non-standardized tobacco products and their packaging.
Retailers have an additional 90 days (until February 7, 2020) to cease all sale of non-standardized tobacco products and their packaging.
Manufacturers/distributors have until November 9, 2021 to ensure all manufacturing, sales and distribution of cigarettes are in a slide and shell packaging format.
Retailers have an additional 3 months after the above date (until February 7, 2022) to ensure all sales of cigarettes are in a slide and shell packaging format.

Tobacco Heating Products
Make Your Own/ Roll Your Own Products (Loose Tobacco, Tubes & Rolling Papers intended for use with tobacco).
Cigars and little cigars
